It’s December the first, which means one thing…it’s finally acceptable to be celebrating Christmas now! I usually wait until December to crack open the Baileys, mince pies and mulled wine but this year I started extra early, whoops…
December is probably my favourite month, mostly because it’s my birthday, my bestie’s birthday, Liam’s birthday and Christmas all rolled into one. I love feeling festive, curling up on the sofa with a feel-good film and a big plate of cheese. And the board games…so many board games! Here are some things I’m looking forward to this month:
Turning 27! Hello to being officially in my late-20s. My birthday is on the 6th and I decided to take it off work this year. Liam’s told me to keep the morning free, and then I’m meeting my best friend for coffee, followed by a nice meal in the evening. I recently visited The Gold Bar at the Bristol Harbour Hotel for a blogger event and I am itching to go back, so this will definitely be the destination for pre-dinner cocktails. Blog post on the hotel coming soon!
Hamilton in London. I was lucky enough to get tickets this year to go and see Hamilton when it opens on the West End. As it turned out, the opening dates have been delayed and so we now have preview tickets. I am beyond excited to see this musical, it has had such rave reviews in the US and I managed to catch Leslie Odom Jr performing some of the show’s hits at INBOUND16. It’s going to be a day to remember.
Spending time with friends. Christmas time is always great for catching up with friends who I don’t get to see as often during the year. Liam and I go back to Cheltenham (our home town) over Christmas to see family and it’s tradition for our friends to all meet up, whether that is for a girly sleepover or Boxing Day drinks at somebody’s house. Over the festive period I hope to see friends from Bristol, London, Cheltenham and even America.
Seeing Felix Hagan and the Family. I was introduced to this band after Liam saw them supporting Frank Turner around 18 months ago. I was hooked after listening to their EP, but didn’t think I’d get a chance to see them at their own show anytime soon. However, to my delight they are playing in Bristol on Sunday (3rd) and I’ve managed to persuade not only a few friends to come along but even my Mum and Step-dad. I’ve already stocked up on the body glitter – I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to this gig.
Decorating the flat. Since I can remember we’ve always ‘cheaped it out’ at Christmas, relying on old baubles and hand me down Christmas trees. This year, we’ve decided to up our game and we took a trip to John Lewis to stock up on decorations. I can’t wait to see it all come together. I’ve even got plans to decorate our bar cart. Stay tuned for the Insta pics!
What are your plans for December? Are you going very traditional or doing something completely different? Let me know in the comments.
