Things are looking a little different around here…

Welcome to SophieSo!

I am certainly celebrating today – celebrating the new site, celebrating getting back into writing and celebrating having a ‘side hustle’, something that is completely mine, and totally different from my 9-5.

Earlier this year, I fell out of love with blogging – and I decided to take a four month hiatus.

I can’t pinpoint the exact reason why – but I knew that blogging had changed so much since I started posting, back in 2012.

It’s funny – and sort of ironic, that blogging used to be a place for people to escape the perfect airbrushed magazine shoots and the sponsored articles, in favour of reading about beauty, fashion and lifestyle from real people and users, sat in their bedrooms, taking grainy shots of their latest Primark haul or Boots purchase.

Fast forward to 2017, and bloggers and vloggers are now multi-million pound brands, with photography that looks like it has been lifted from the pages of Vogue, and YouTube videos being shot with a whole production team behind them.

Like everything, things have moved on, the industry has changed and competition is now fierce.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining – because some of my favourite content creators fall into this category – and I am so grateful for all the people I have discovered over the years.

I think I stopped blogging because I felt defeated…I am a perfectionist and I felt that I was never going to get my blog to the standard I wanted it to be.

However, I then asked myself why I started blogging in the first place.

Why did I come home after a long day at work, fire up my laptop and continue to work on something else?

It was because I love to write – and even more, I love to write about what I love.

Which is when I realised that blogging wasn’t really the issue with why I fell out of love with posting. It was my identity in the blogging world.

alldolledup began six years ago in my bedroom at university. Six years is a really long time, and I felt that the time had come to change things up a bit. I have absolutely loved blogging as alldolledup – but people change and this blog has evolved along with my personality.

alldolledup began as a beauty blog for students living on a shoestring budget. This suited me perfectly at the time, but now, at 26, I love to write about more than just beauty, throwing in the odd lifestyle post, food, fashion and even documenting my travel adventures.

So after much planning, lots of help from friends and colleagues – I am so happy and excited to be re-introducing ‘alldolledup’ as ‘SophieSo’.

SophieSo aims to inspire and spread positivity.

Here is my space to share what I love, document my adventures, and spread the word about what it’s like to be a 20-something girl, living in central Bristol, building a career in marketing, trying to nail a good flat-lay.

I hope you enjoy what SophieSo has to bring to the blogging table…if you have any suggestions for content or want to see more on a particular subject, let me know in the comments or tweet me at @sophiefryer.
