Life has been pretty hectic in the past couple of weeks! With Christmas week looming and our move to Bristol coming up, I have been in much need of a bit of ‘me’ time. Which was why I was absolutely delighted when Cowley Manor asked me to come and spend the day at the C-Side Spa to enjoy their Festive Day Spa package.
The spa is situated just on the outskirts of Cheltenham, and you can tell immediately upon arrival why it is a popular venue. The grounds of Cowley Manor are truly picturesque, with ivy creeping up the walls of the buildings and neatly trimmed hedges scattered about. There was a wedding taking place on the day that I went and they had gone all out with pretty fairy lights displayed in the bushes that surrounded the main hotel, giving it a festive feel.
I was greeted at the spa reception with a bag full of goodies including a robe, flip flops, some beauty treats and a lovely star Christmas decoration containing a Green & Spring hand lotion.
I was particularly impressed with the spa’s changing facilities; they had absolutely everything catered for! There was no need for me to bring any towels or skincare products as they were all provided, even down to cleanser and toner. Q-tips, hairspray and deodorant were all readily available along with a glorious selection of Green & Spring shampoo and conditioner in the showers. I felt well and truly pampered before I had even started my spa experience.
C-Side has both an outdoor and indoor pool which are kept heated all year round. The indoor pool has beautiful glass walls, a selection of complimentary magazines and jugs of cold water to sip whilst you relax. I settled myself down with a copy of Elle, posted a quick Instagram snap and then switched my phone off to enjoy a couple of hour’s relaxation. The only thing that I did note was the pool filter was a little bit noisy, but this was put to the back of my mind once I had engrossed myself in some magazines.
After making full use of the pool and steam/sauna facilities, I headed into the relaxation area for some lunch. Included in the Festive Day Spa package is a two course meal and I enjoyed a fillet of salmon for my main and strawberries and cream for desert. The portions were just enough for a day at the spa, where you don’t want anything particularly heavy or filling. It was nice to hear some Christmas carols gently playing in the background; I was feeling very festive by the end of my meal. The staff at C-Side were extremely prompt with the food and once I had finished eating they came and greeted me for my facial treatment (also part of the Festive Day Spa package).
I’ve often been for massages before but I’ve never had a facial so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I was presented with a music playlist menu when I arrived in the treatment room and I was so excited to see Gabrielle Aplin’s English Rain on the list. I absolutely love her music so it made it even more special knowing I was going to be able to relax listening to one of my favourite albums. The facial itself was incredible and used a combination of different Green & Spring products. I am completely sold on this brand now, their creams and scrubs smell amazing…plus they are stocked at Space NK. I felt completely at ease and I’m pretty sure I almost fell asleep once or twice I felt that relaxed! My skin felt amazing after the treatment…I couldn’t bear to apply any makeup for the rest of the day in fear of spoiling the effects. Finally, to round the day off I was offered a herbal tea to sit and drink whilst I let my moisturiser sink into my skin for half an hour.
I had such a lovely day at the C-Side spa and I cannot recommend it enough if you are looking for last minute Christmas gifts. There were plenty of men enjoying the facilities too! The Festive Day Spa package is only £95 per person and is available here.
